For years, Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan were two of the fiercest competitors on the basketball court. They were also, however, good friends outside of the game and frequently hung out. Jordan and Barkley’s friendship has since dissipated, and the latter has occasionally shared insight into the breakdown of that relationship. Now, “Sir Charles” is sharing more recollections about the moment that ended his friendship with “Air Jordan.” And, apparently, a tense late-night phone call was even involved.
Charles Barkley has long been honest about the fact that he inadvertently initiated his estrangement from Michael Jordan by making some comments about his former friend. As Barkley explained during his recent appearance on The Tom Tolbert Show (which is on YouTube), those comments were made while he was on the air. The former NBA MVP recalled his exact critiques, which he also referred to as “indisputed facts”:
