You: Netflix drops season four trailer

You season three spoilers below

The trailer for You season 4 has finally been released, and this time serial killer Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is in the UK.

The trailer opens with scenes of Joe walking down a road in London, then flashes to a fraught conversation between him and librarian Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle), one of Joe’s season three obsessions.

It turns out, Joe has a new identity: he’s now a university professor called Jonathan Moore. He has a new circle of friends – all of whom are eccentric personalities in themselves – including an art gallery director, an author, a socialite, an entrepreneur, an Oxford grad and a Princess.

“Turns out teaching’s fun, and London’s not so bad. I fell in with the most insane damaged people on Earth... a circle of privileged douchebags, but I do miss having someone out there...” says Joe’s voice over the trailer.

By the looks of it, the serial killer has turned a new leaf. In one scene he is looking at a woman in the corridor and says “Nope, not interested,” as she walks by.

But then, someone starts texting him. “Hello, Joe,” the person says. “Now do I have your attention?”

Then there looks like there are some murders on the university campus. Is Joe the culprit? Is someone setting him up?

“Why does the universe keep doing this to me?” says Joe’s voice later in the trailer. “I just want my little European holiday back.”

There’s a new love story that seems to be brewing between him and art gallery owner Kate (Charlotte Ritchie); there are party and dinner scenes and there’s a moment where dozens of newspaper articles are splattered across a wall. Who has done that? Then Joe is running through a misty wood, running after Marienne and then holding a garrote he had hidden in a book – perhaps old habits die hard after all.

“Wherever you go... there you are,” says text over some of the scenes.

Season three finished with Joe poisoning his wife Love (Victoria Pedretti) with aconite before trying to burn down their home to make it look like he had died - leaving his young son to be raised with a neighbour.

The fourth season will be made up of ten episodes and will be released in two parts – with a month long wait between the two releases. It’s a first for the show which debuted on Lifetime in 2018, before being picked up by Netflix.

According to Netflix’s content site, Tudum, the fourth season will also see Badgley make his directorial debut.

Showrunner Sera Gamble, who previously worked on The CW channel Supernatural, has returned to helm the fourth season. The new season’s cast also includes Lukas Gage (Euphoria, The White Lotus), Tilly Keeper (Make Me Famous), Amy-Leigh Hickman (Our Girl) and Ed Speleers (Downton Abbey).
