Francis Buchholz, the former Scorpions bassist, has died, aged 71.

A bass guitar stalwart for the Scorpions, spending almost two decades with the German rock institution, Buchholz was there for all the biggest moments in the band's history – headlining Rock in Rio 1985, the 1989 Moscow Music Peace Festival – and played on its greatest recordings.
