You can now get paid to drink gin and stay in a castle in Scotland

Gin fans, your dream job could be yours after a top drinks company announced a new 'gin-ternship' role.

The job of a lifetime for gin lovers, it will see one lucky applicant sipping their way around Edinburgh in pursuit of the perfect tipple.

Scottish premium gin brand, King’s Hill, is calling for a gin enthusiast with a passion for all things botanical to take on a summer Gin-ternship that will pay them to visit the Pentland Hills and try the brand’s handcrafted gins.

As well as receiving a generous £500 salary, the newly appointed Gin-tern will be required to spend their working days relaxing in Dalhousie Castle.

The luxury castle hotel lies just eight miles from Edinburgh, with the lucky applicant able to enjoy daily gin sampling before being taken on a tour of this exciting Scottish distillery.

Hannah Fletcher, Brand Manager for Tŷ Nant Water, which owns King’s Hill, said: “As summer draws closer, there’s nothing quite like sipping gin in the sun – it’s a special experience, and we wanted to take this to the next level for one lucky gin lover.

“Our distillery is nestled in a breath-taking location right on the outskirts of Edinburgh, so we also wanted to make sure our next Gin-tern would get the full King’s Hill experience.

"After all, there is no better place to enjoy our award-winning gin than here, right at the heart of the Scottish Pentland Hills.

“We’d like to invite anyone with a distinguished palate and a love for all things gin to apply and become our first-ever Gin-tern.”

To apply for the Gin-ternship position, gin lovers simply need to visit here and fill out the application form before Monday 18 July.

The award-winning King’s Hill gin is made on a traditional Copper Alembic Still in the Pentland Hills using locally foraged Heather, Rosehips, Gorse and Elderflower to add smoothness, depth and character.
