You can buy this network TV legend’s home for a mere $22 million

TV sitcom buffs no doubt rate “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” as one of the best ensemble comedies in broadcast history.

They may be on to something. The show, which ran from 1970 to 1977, won 29 Emmys and was ranked by Rolling Stone as the 10th on the list of “The 100 Greatest TV Shows of All Time.”

Now some lucky buyer will get to call Mary Tyler Moore’s longtime Connecticut home their own, as the property is going on sale for $21.9 million, a sale first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Built in 1900, the fieldstone-constructed Georgian home was purchased in 2006 for $10 million by Moore and her husband Dr. S. Robert Levine. Moore passed away from cardiopulmonary arrest complicated by pneumonia in 2017.

Levine has hung onto the property for the past six years but says it’s time to let go.

Calling the decision “massively difficult”, the now-retired Levine told The Journal, “It’s Mary’s house . . . if I’m going to step into my ‘what next?’, I decided I have to step away from the house.”

More Real Estate:

The five-bedroom 14,000-square residence features its own solarium, large stained-glass windows, dual marble baths, elegant dressing rooms, and roomy walk-in closets. The huge foyer offers a winding spiral staircase and the nearby dining room is adorned by a giant chandelier which reportedly followed Moore to every home she owned after hitting it big in Hollywood.

The home comes with a spa and gym that holds a massage room, a built-in jacuzzi pool, and a steam shower and sauna room that leads out to the property’s outdoor pool.

The home sits on about 7 acres of land in rural Connecticut that features a large glass conservatory that Sotheby’s International Realty calls “the showpiece of the house.”

The for-sale listing landed with Joseph Barbieri of Sotheby's International Realty-Greenwich Brokerage.

If you’re a fan of plucky Mary Richards, and you’re filthy rich, it’s the chance of a lifetime to make a huge connection with one of TV’s most celebrated supernovas.
