'You are all gonna die, just watch. I will get you all killed, I will come back'

A mum brandished a STUN GUN and shouted 'you're all gonna die' in an angry tirade outside the home of her son's partner. Dawn Chaisty, 59, from Bolton, threatened the woman's sister and left her 'terrified' after she brandished the weapon and said 'I will get you all killed', a court heard.

However, she was spared a jail term by a judge who said she was now receiving treatment for long-standing mental health problems.

On the evening of February 24, 2021, there was an incident involving Chaisty's son, Josh Holden, and his then-partner, Kirsty Sugden, Manchester Crown Court heard.

At 11am the following morning, Chaisty went to Ms Sugden's house address where her sister Gabrielle Sugden, the victim in the case, answered the door with Chaisty demanding to know 'what's gone on?'

Gabrille went inside to speak to her sister, who told her not to let Chaisty into the house. When she went back to speak to Chaisty she became 'increasingly angry' and began to swear, the court was told.

Gabrielle asked Chaisty to move away from the house but she responded by saying: "I am not going anywhere, you can't tell me what to do."

The victim closed the door so the children who were in the house couldn't hear and asked her again to go away, Mr Smith said, this time in a raised voice. It was at this point, he said, that Chaisty, who was standing on the other side of the fence, produced the stun gun.

Mr Smith said she leaned towards Ms Sugden, who was stood just outside her front door, and 'aggressively' said 'don't tell me what to do and don't swear at me, you are a disgusting vile little girl' whilst holding the device which 'appeared to be charged.'

Ms Sugden, who was 'shocked and frightened', said she went back inside but that as Chaisty walked away she shouted 'you are all gonna die, just watch. I will get you all killed, I will come back.' The police were called and attended at the house before going to Chaisty's address and arresting her.

Officers told her her house would be searched and she informed them that there was something on her bed. There they found 'what appeared to be a taser', the court heard.

In her interview, she denied leaving the house that day. She did however accept the stun gun belonged to her. She said she had it ‘for personal protection after experiencing an episode of serious violence on an earlier occasion’, Mr Smith said.

In a personal statement read to the court, Gabrielle Sugden said: "This incident has terrified me. I’ve got other things going on in my life and this has caused me upset and trauma. I’m still very upset whilst giving this statement and that’s all I’d like to say for now.”

Chaisty, of Brazley Avenue, Horwich, pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited weapon and common assault at an earlier hearing. She was charged with the latter as she gave the 'apprehension of immediate unlawful violence.'

She appeared before a judge at Manchester Crown Court to be sentenced on Wednesday afternoon (June, 7).

John Richards, defending, said: "This lady needs help. She has been seeking help for the last seven or eight years for her mental health issues. She's now in a position where that can ably be afforded', adding she was 'stable on her medication.'

Judge Alan Conrad KC described the incident as an 'unfortunate but serious matter between neighbours.' However, he told her: "Fortunately, so far as this court is concerned, there has been no repetition of any unpleasantness in the meantime and that stands you in good stead."

He added: "You were sensible enough to plead guilty to these matters. It seems to me your condition has markedly improved since you last appeared before me last year."

He imposed a two-year community order with 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days which means she will be 'under the supervision of a probation officer and will be required to attend meetings' he said adding she would be brought back to court if she failed to comply.
