THE Ripper’s ex-wife Sonia Sutcliffe has been burgled at the home she used to share with her serial killer husband.
Sonia, who divorced Sutcliffe in 1991, suffered the break-in over the past couple of weeks. It is understood thieves smashed down the door of her detached home when the former teacher was away visiting her sister.
Sonia, 60, returned back to find cops guarding her door and several items missing, including emeralds and sapphires.
She and her ex-husband paid £16,000 for the four-bedroomed house in Bradford in 1977. Sutcliffe embarked on murderous sprees across West Yorkshire and Manchester before returning home and getting into bed with his unsuspecting wife.
She moved out after Sutcliffe’s conviction at the Old Bailey in 1981. However, Sonia – who is thought to still visit her husband in Broadmoor, Berks – later decided to return to her former home.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said yesterday that no one had been arrested for the break-in.
He said: “Police can confirm that a report of burglary was made in relation to a property in the Heaton area of Bradford. The burglary is believed to have occurred between Saturday February 25 and Saturday March 3. No arrests have been made at this stage.”
