Delivery firm Yodel has apologised after one of its drivers appeared to spit on a customer's letterbox. The household says she believes he reacted "in anger" after trying to deliver a parcel when there was nobody in.
Footage caught of the incident shows rather than placing the large parcel in the safe place she says she had requested the driver places a card in the letterbox. He then looks as though he spits at the door before walking off, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The delivery firm has now sais sorry following the incident. It added it had taken action saying the incident "does not meet our high standards".
The driver was delivering a parcel from Yodel to the property in Oxton at about 1.30pm on Monday when the incident happened. The customer, who did not want to be named, says she asked for the parcel to be left in a safe place behind the bins as she was not home.
But the video footage taken at the time shows the driver putting a card into the letterbox. He then appears to spit on the letterbox.
He then picks up the parcel and returns to his vehicle. The customer told the ECHO that she believes the driver "spat on the letter box in anger" at the fact she wasn't in.
A Yodel spokesperson said: “We take driver behaviour very seriously and this incident clearly does not meet our high standards. We have taken appropriate action and reached out to the customer to express our sincere apologies.”
