Ylber Ramadani is Aberdeen’s first signing of the summer after the Albanian put pen to paper at Pittodrie.
Jim Goodwin is facing a major summer rebuild in the North East after finishing tenth in the Scottish Premiership last season.
The former St Mirren boss has already shipped out a number of the players who failed to impress under Stephen Glass, and has now kicked off the process of bringing his own in.
Ramadani has signed a three-year deal and will join up with his new teammates pending a successful work permit hearing.
The Dons have stumped up an undisclosed fee to prise the midfielder away from previous club MTK Budapest, and Goodwin has cited the German-born player’s versatility as one of the reasons for adding him to the Dons squad.
“Ylber is an energetic, hardworking player with great versatility,” he said. “He has the game intelligence to be able to play a couple of positions in the midfield area, either as a holding midfielder or as a more advanced box-to-box midfielder.
“He is a real team player who leads by example, and I’ve no doubt he will be a big favourite with the fans due to the desire and commitment he gives in every game”.
Midfield is set to be a key area for Goodwin next season with Lewis Ferguson's future still uncertain.
The Scotland international has been the subject of interest from Serie A outfit Cagliari, who saw a January bid knocked back for the ex-Hamilton man.
They could yet try again for Ferguson, who has admitted he still doesn't know if he'll be an Aberdeen player next season or not.
The club are also set to lose star youngster Calvin Ramsay, with Liverpool in talks over a deal to take the highly rated teenager to Anfield.
