YES Network Gives Health Update on Cameraman Drilled in Face on Orioles’ Errant Throw

A cameraman for the YES Network suffered an orbital fracture after being struck by a wild throw during Wednesday’s game at Yankees Stadium, the network announced Thursday.

Pete Stendel was hit in the face by an overthrow from Orioles rookie shortstop Gunnar Henderson after the ball sailed well over the head of first baseman Ryan O'Hearn and went into the camera well.

After an extended stoppage that lasted more than 15 minutes, Stendel was carted off through the outfield exit. While being transported off the field, he held his arm up in the air and flashed a peace sign to the crowd in an attempt to let fans and family members who may have been watching know that he was O.K. and not in major distress.

In true pinstripe fashion, Yankees fans chanted ‘MVP’ as he was removed by medical personnel for medical evaluation.

Stendel is now at home resting with his family, the network said.
