Bellator’s welterweight champion is ready to return, and he’ll do it in three months in Ireland.
Yaroslav Amosov (26-0), the promotion’s 170-pound champ, will take on interim titleholder Logan Storley (14-1 MMA, 9-1 BMMA) in a rematch in the Bellator 291 main event, the promotion announced Tuesday. The card takes place Feb. 25 at 3Arena in Dublin – a date that was moved from Friday, the day before, to a new Saturday spot.
Amosov and Storley first fought at Bellator 252 in November 2020. Amosov won a split decision to hand Storley what remains the only loss of his career. In his next fight in June 2021, Amosov beat Douglas Lima to win the welterweight title.
Amosov was set to make his first attempted title defense in May against Michael Page. But after Russia invaded Amosov’s home country of Ukraine, his plans changed and he took up arms to help defend his country in the war.
Now he’s back and ready to put the sport’s longest active winning streak on the line for what will be his first fight in about 20 months.
After Storley’s loss to Amosov, he bounced back with decision winis over Dante Schiro and Neiman Gracie. Then at Bellator 281 in May, he fought Page for an interim welterweight title since no one knew how long Amosov might be away. He won that fight by unanimous decision.
