Yannick Bolasie slams Arsenal decision to sell Matteo Guendouzi as £10m Marseille exit nears

Former Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie has criticised Arsenal’s decision to sell Matteo Guendouzi.

The midfielder is reportedly nearing a permanent move to Marseille, the club he joined on loan last summer after falling out of favour under Mikel Arteta due to reported concerns over his attitude.

Guendouzi is one of a number of players Arsenal are looking to sell this summer in an effort to raise further funds as they plot a significant spend themselves, despite having missed out on Champions League football.

The 23-year-old, along with Pablo Mari, Hector Bellerin and Lucas Torreira are up for sale, with Guendouzi having formed a major part of the Marseille side who made it to the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League.

In total, the French international made 55 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals as he reportedly nears a £10m move arranged as part of the loan agreement reached last July.

A popular figure upon his initial breakthrough as a youngster under Unai Emery after moving to the Emirates Stadium from Lorient in 2018, Bolasie took to Twitter to express his belief the club were making a mistake when it came to selling Guendouzi.

“This guy’s a player, you can see the ability every time he plays and don’t let people let you believe when he first played that season he wasn’t very good….how they’ve let him go for that I’ll never understand,” he wrote.
