The New York Yankees have officially inked a historic deal with left-hander Max Fried, solidifying a $218 million, eight-year contract. This agreement, finalized on Tuesday, marks the largest contract ever for a left-handed pitcher in baseball history, surpassing David Price's previous record.

Fried's signing comes after the Yankees lost out on outfielder Juan Soto to their crosstown rivals, the Mets. Despite some injury concerns, Fried's track record of success and talent have made him a coveted addition to the Yankees' roster.
