Yang Hyun jun insists Celtic transfer dream is still ON as bullish winger explains hold up in 'stagnant situation'

Hopeful Yang Hyun-jun insists that his dream move to European football with Celtic is still alive despite the saga dragging on with the Gangwon winger.

The Scottish Premiership champions bid to bring the 21-year-old to Glasgow's east end has been met by flip-flopping from the K-League side - who initially pulled the plug on a deal as they didn't want to lose the forward until the winter window with the club fighting relegation. That led to a furious response from the player and the position of Gangwon appeared to have softened with the club stating they would allow the player to leave if their valuation was met.

Record Sport understand a £2.1million deal is being floated but there has been silence from all parties over a deal - and with Brendan Rodgers well underway in his pre-season plans a move to Celtic Park could be fading for Yang this summer. In an interview with Korean outlet SpoTV the attacker attempted to explain the delay - admitting the a final fee had still to be reached between the two sides.

He confessed he hopes for a quick resolution with sections of the Gangwon support unhappy with the star man as he edges closer to the exit. He said: "The stagnant situation is gradually being resolved.

"The club have reevaluated the value through CEO Kim Byung-ji during the one-on-one meeting. Still, there seems to be some progress. I think I hurt the fans too much. I want to make the fans smile and go to Celtic."

After enjoying a breakthrough campaign last term, Yang has struggled to hit top form this season with his club facing the drop from the Korean top flight - netting just one goal this term. The brutally honest wide man reckons it could be now or never to seal a move to Europe.

He said: "It has been a dream since childhood. I think it is right to go out to take this opportunity. I think it will be difficult if it is not this opportunity because of poor performances this season."

Rodgers has added two new faces since his return. Marco Tilio and Odin Thiago Holm are already in the door at Parkhead.
