Motorcycle and powersports companies spend an awful lot of time trying to sell us increasingly capable machines. More suspension travel, better electronics, bigger tires, more power, you know the drill. But there’s a fairly obvious problem with owning an awesome dirt bike, ATV, or side-by-side that doesn’t get nearly as much attention. None of that expensive hardware is particularly useful when the trails disappear or your local riding area gets shut down.
Yamaha seems pretty aware of this problem. The company has awarded more than $225,000 through its Outdoor Access Initiative for the second quarter of 2026, spreading the money across seven organizations working on outdoor recreation around the US. And while corporate grant announcements don’t usually make for thrilling reading, where Yamaha’s money is actually going should matter to anyone who enjoys getting dirty on something with an engine.
