We're living through a period where our public lands are under threat, both in terms of their funding, staffing, and operations, as well as just being sold off to the highest bidder or being seized by the government that is supposed to be entrusted with its continued well-being. Case in point, the US Marines attempting to seize Johnson Valley and basically end King of the Hammers, or the 'Roadless Rule' being overturned by the feds.
Yet, certain groups have endeavored to help breed further access, foster better conservation, and help folks fight for our public lands and public land access, and one of the biggest names in that space is Yamaha and its Outdoor Access Initiative.
RideApart's covered the OAI before, and celebrated its successes, but in the latest report from the company, it's crossed a pretty big milestone in that Yamaha's sent out a total of over $8 million to strengthen public access and fund stewardship projects since its inception, and that's cause for celebration in my eyes.
