Like A Dragon Ishin’s Another Life side story sees Kiryu – er, Ryoma – take on farm-sim duties on a quiet plot with Haruka. Sega and RGG Studios announced the upcoming RPG’s side mode in a new trailer, with a glimpse of what to expect – including stray dogs and cats you can befriend and care for.
Like A Dragon Ishin is a spinoff set in 19th century Japan, so RGG can play with timelines and character stories as they see fit. Kazuma Kiryu, the Yakuza series’ usual protagonist, is Sakamoto Ryoma, a swordsman intent on avenging his father, but that doesn’t mean he has no time for farming.
In one of the series’ signature side stories, Ryoma can grow beans and other crops on a small farm with Haruka – who’s just Haruka in this version, the same as in mainline Yakuza – and prepare the crops they grow for cooking via Cooking Mama-style minigames.
The trailer shows Ryoma chopping onions by pressing the right button combinations and flipping fish on the grill. Eventually, the duo can make and deliver food to order and net a small sum for their trouble.
Ryoma may also come across a stray dog or cat in need of help. Like the big-hearted warrior he is, he can take them in, treat their injuries, and give them a place to stay.Like A Dragon Ishin launches Feb. 21, 2023 for PS4 and PS5, PC, and Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
