Xenoblade Chronicles 3: How to start every Hero Ascension quest

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Heroes are a huge part of the game’s combat system. Not only do they act as a seventh party member with unique abilities in Chain Attacks, but they also unlock new classes for the main six party members to try out. The combinations and possibilities are nearly endless, and we’ve already put together a Xenoblade 3 class guide if you’re stuck for what to do.

Every class can rank up as the party uses it, unlocking Combo Arts so you can mix and match your classes. By default, they max out at Rank 10, but if you complete each Hero’s Ascension quest, it’ll push that barrier of their respective class up to Rank 20.

Once you’ve started these quests, they’re all easy to follow, but unlocking them is often trickier than it seems, so we’re going to go through every class in the game and explain how to unlock their Ascension quests.

We also have a guide on how to unlock every Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Hero if you’re missing a couple.

Main party members - Side Stories

All six main party members are able to upgrade their classes, and their Ascension quests unlock automatically during the story. Here is when each becomes available:

  • Eunie: Chapter 5.
  • Lanz: Chapter 5.
  • Mio: Chapter 6.
  • Taion: Chapter 6.
  • Noah: Chapter 7.
  • Sena: Chapter 7.

Silvercoat Ethel & Smoldering Cammuravi

This is a unique case, as there is no full quest. Simply level up the Seraph class to Rank 10 on any party member and return to Colony Omega with Cammuravi in the party during Chapter 7. Enter the building and go to the previously locked door at the back, say “yes” to the dialogue prompt and Ethel will become available to the party again, after losing them in Chapter 3.

This will also raise the cap of both Seraph and Flash Fencer to Rank 20.

Artificer Valdi - I’m a Mechanic

First, you need to complete three sets of Rapapa’s item requests in Colony 30 and get the War Medic class to Rank 10. Then, put Valdi in your party and head to the question mark at Colony 30 after starting Chapter 6.

Dutiful Zeon - Reasons to Evolve

Unlocking in Chapter 5, take Zeon to Colony 9 once the Guardian Commander class is Rank 10. Have fun growing potatoes.

Inscrutable Teach - Shadow of Enmity

This quest unlocks in Chapter 6. First, you must have completed the “Teach’s Teachers” quest up until there are no more requests on the board. Then, with Teach in your party and Thaumaturge at Rank 10, go to the question mark at Colony Gamma.

Peerless Riku & Manana - Culinary Repertoire

Once you’ve reached Chapter 6, go to the Camp Inlet in Eyrithia Sea with Riku & Manana in the party, and Yumsmith at Rank 10.

Ashenpelt Gray - Payback for Treason

During Chapter 5 or later, take Gray to City once Full Metal Jaguar is Rank 10.

Dawnhero Isurd - Effervescent Heart

Get Strategos to Rank 10, then once you’ve reached Chapter 6, take Isurd to Colony Lambda.

Ghostbow Juniper - Survivors

Go to Colony Tau during Chapter 6 or later. Make sure Juniper is in the party and Stalker is Rank 10.

Undying Blade Ashera - A Deep-Seated Scar

Wait until Chapter 7, then take Ashera to Old Kana Battlefield in the Fornis Region once Lone Exile is Rank 10.

Craftmaiden Alexandria - Inescapable Past

While this quest unlocks in Chapter 5, you must first have completed the supply chain quest for Colony Iota Goods and sent them to other colonies using the Collectopedia Cards. Then, you can take Alexandria to Colony Iota provided you have levelled Incursor to Rank 10.

City’s Bulwark Monica - Promise to the Future

Get Lost Vanguard to Rank 10, then take Monica to City in Chapter 7.

Proudbanner Fiona - A Farewell Request

In Chapter 6 or later, get Signifer to Rank 10, then go to Colony Mu with Fiona in the party.

Defiant Triton - My Memories

Complete as many side quests for Colony 15 as you can during Chapters 6 and 7. Then, with Triton in your party, have Manana cook any meal at any campsite.

Wrathfist Ghondor - Knowing Your Family

First, you need to have completed the “Side Story: Noah” quest in Chapter 7. Next, take Ghondor to Castle Agnus once Martial Artist is at Rank 10.

Glorysong Miyabi - Happiness

Unlocking in Chapter 7, take Miyabi to Michiba Canteen in City. The Troubadour class must be Rank 10.

No. 7 Segiri - Invisible Bond

For Segiri, you must first complete a series of quest to refurbish the prison area to house the residents of Colony 0. Then you can take Segiri to that area with Machine Assassin at Rank 10.

Nia, Queen of Agnus - Grasping My Future

For this quest, you must specifically level Mio to Rank 10 in the Lifesage class, no other party member will count. Then take Nia to four locations marked on the map. These are:

  • Founder Shrine in City.
  • Agnus Castle.
  • Saffronia Tree in the Fornis Region.
  • Tower Camp in the Pentelas Region.

Then head to a camp and discuss the information with Nia to start the quest.

Melia, Queen of Keves - From Atop Her Throne

For Melia’s quest, level Noah to Rank 10 in Royal Summoner, and then take Melia to the Keves Castle Throneroom.
