Microsoft's translucent green anniversary console finally has a price tag attached to it, and it is not a cheap one.
French outlet Dealabs, known for its accurate track record on hardware leaks, has revealed new details on what fans can expect to pay for this special edition Xbox Series X once it becomes available.
Xbox Series X Special Edition Pricing Leaks Online
According to Dealabs reporter billbil-kun, the "Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition" will carry a price tag of €899.99 in Europe, which the outlet estimates translates to roughly $899.99 in the United States. It was revealed that Microsoft typically matches the UK or EU region pricing when it is released in the US, hence the same $900 price tag.
That said, this figure has not been officially confirmed for the US market specifically, though billbil-kun has built a reputation for accurately leaking hardware pricing and release details ahead of official announcements.
For comparison, the standard 1TB Xbox Series X with a disc drive currently retails at $799.99, meaning the special edition would carry a $100 premium over the regular console.
That gap becomes even more noticeable next to the 1TB Digital Edition, which starts at $749.99, putting the anniversary console roughly $150 above that configuration.
Xbox Series X Special Edition Release Date Leaks
Dealabs also reported that the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition is set to launch on November 27, a timeline right before the holidays.
According to CNET, it also coincides with the broad Black Friday sale in the US. That timing places the console right in the middle of one of the busiest shopping periods of the year, though the leak notes buyers should not expect much of a discount on the console itself during that same window.
Microsoft first unveiled the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition back in June during its Xbox Games Showcase, revealing the translucent green design as part of the company's celebration marking the Xbox brand's 25th anniversary.
A matching translucent green Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition was also announced alongside it. Earlier leaks have pointed out that the accessory will be shipping separately in October, ahead of the console's reported November arrival.
This makes it similar to the release scheme of Valve's Steam Controller, which was later followed by the Steam Machine.
Special Xbox Series X Still Affected by RAM Crisis
The reported $899.99 price tag would make the Xbox Series X25 the most expensive Xbox console ever released, positioning it in direct competition with Sony's PS5 Pro on price, even though the two consoles are not equally matched in raw hardware capability.
That steep cost lines up with a broader trend affecting the entire console market this year, as an ongoing global RAM shortage continues driving component costs higher across the industry.
Microsoft has already raised prices on its standard Xbox consoles multiple times throughout the year because of that same shortage, and reports have indicated the company is still losing money on every console it sells despite those increases.
Presuming the Xbox Series X25 is otherwise identical in hardware to a standard Xbox Series X, the reported pricing suggests buyers would essentially be paying a full $100 premium just for the limited edition green design and anniversary branding.
Microsoft has not officially confirmed the console's price or release date, so these details should still be treated as an unconfirmed report until the company makes a formal announcement.
