Xbox Game Pass games for October announced

The first of Xbox Game Pass’s October games have arrived, with third-person martial arts game Sifu added on October 2.

Meanwhile, a couple of titles have migrated to Game Pass Standard. These are Open Roads and MLB The Show 24. The games were already available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers but have since been added to the lower-end tier, which launched in September.

That’s right, Game Pass is more confusing than it used to be.

Here are the games coming to Xbox Game Pass later this month. And, thankfully, they will be available to Standard, Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers.

  • Mad Streets (October 7)
  • Inscryption (October 10)

Xbox Game Pass October games

Inscryption is this month’s must-play Xbox Game Pass title. Sure, it’s not an AAA action-fest, but was one of the most interesting and well-regarded titles of 2021.

On the surface, it’s a rogue-like deck-building game. But, as you work through its first chapter, Inscryption begins to become as much a puzzler and horror story experience. It’s one you won’t forget, and won a Bafta for game design in 2022.

Inscryption is by Daniel Mullins, who also made Pony Island and The Hex.

Mad Streets is our other upcoming pick for October, and is best played with friends. It’s a silly, over-the-top cartoon brawler where the appeal hinges on seeing what antics you can get up to with the game’s physics engine.

It’s not a deep fighter, and is probably one you can miss if you don’t have any friend to pummel, virtually. However, it does support both local and online multiplayer, and will likely pair nicely with a Friday night in.

Five titles are also set to leave Xbox Game Pass this month:

  • Dyson Sphere Program (PC only)
  • Everspace 2
  • From Space
  • F1 Manager 2023
  • Scorn

These titles will leave the service on October 15. For a taste of something unusual, try out Scorn before it departs. This first-person horror title has a HR Giger-inspired art style. Its atmosphere is worth experiencing even if you get nowhere near the final credits.
