Xavi Hernandez announces Marc-Andre ter Stegen's return after injury

Diego Kochen Barcelona secures long-term contract with United States youth goalkeeper

Welcome to our FC Barcelona lineup preview! This weekend, Barcelona will go head-to-head against Granada in a crucial La Liga clash. Manager Xavi Hernandez has made some interesting changes to his lineup, with the return of goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen stealing the spotlight.

Ter Stegen's absence has been felt by the team since November 12th when he last played against Deportivo Alaves. The talented German goalkeeper has been dealing with discomfort from a lumbar hernia, which eventually led him to undergo surgery on his lower back in December. After a three-month hiatus, Ter Stegen is finally ready to take his position between the sticks once again.

In Ter Stegen's absence, young goalkeeper Inaki Pena stepped up admirably, providing cover for one of the best shot stoppers in the world. Pena's efforts did not go unnoticed, but with the return of Ter Stegen, the German will take on the responsibility of guarding the Barca goal.

The defensive lineup sees some changes as well. Seventeen-year-old Pau Cubarsi will make his first appearance defending the goal, partnering with Ronald Araujo in the heart of the defense. The left back position will be occupied by Joao Cancelo, who is playing out of position, while Kounde takes on the opposite flank.

Moving into midfield, there are no surprises in seeing Andreas Christensen providing Xavi with his pivot role. Christensen's ability to distribute the ball effectively from a more defensive position has been a key attribute for Barcelona. Alongside him, we have an attacking duo of Frenkie de Jong and Ilkay Gundogan, providing creativity and forward momentum.

With Barcelona reverting to a four-midfielder system, the false left winger role will be taken up by the ever-versatile Pedri. This position was previously occupied by Gavi until his unfortunate season-ending injury. On the right wing, Lamine Yamal gets the nod to start, while Raphinha, who has just returned from injury, starts on the bench.

As for the attacking position, Robert Lewandowski will spearhead the Barcelona attack. Known for his clinical finishing and ability to find the back of the net, Lewandowski's presence will be crucial in their pursuit of victory. Unfortunately, Vitor Roque is suspended due to a double yellow-card received in the team's previous match against Alaves, in which he managed to score his second goal for Barcelona.

The matchup against Granada is an important one for Barcelona, as a win would help them reduce the current league leaders, Real Madrid's, lead to eight points. Xavi Hernandez has carefully crafted this lineup to maximize their chances of success, with a mix of experienced players and promising talents.

Now, all that's left is to wait and see how this lineup performs on the field. The fans are anxiously anticipating this exciting clash, hoping it will be a stepping stone towards a successful season for FC Barcelona.
