Ella Henderson and Jack Burnell are engaged after the swimmer proposed during a romantic holiday.
The X Factor star met her now fiancé on a dating app during lockdown and they started their romance with FaceTime dates during the coronavirus pandemic. The popstar, who found fame on Simon Cowell's reality show in 2012, shared the exciting news with her fans on Tuesday evening.
Team GB hunk Jack, who has retired from competitive swimming, popped the question to the Ghosts singer during the couple's lavish holiday to Mauritius.
"So this happened," the singer captioned a snap of her ring to her Instagram followers. "Here’s to life with you & all it’s adventures @jackrexburnell."
"CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Xxxx" Giovanna Fletcher wrote to Ella as the star shared her engagement news on Instagram this evening.
"Congrats mate," fellow X Factor alum Jake Quickenden added, as Joel Corry commented: "Woooo massive congrats to you both !!!"
Gordon Ramsay added: "Congratulations to you both," while former Love Island host Laura Whitmore said: "Congrats!xxx"
Ella has also since posted some sweet pictures of them both taken moments later. The couple are wearing cream bath robes in the snaps and are smiling and kissing while Ella flashes her huge rock.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the singer said: "It’s funny, we always say we never would have met and crossed paths probably if it wasn’t for the lockdown."
She continued: "The reason for going on the dating app was because it was a long period of time before we could go out and socialise. I missed my friends and wanted to go to the bar, have a cocktail, chat somebody up and let them chat you up but you couldn’t have that time to do that."
