People living in Swansea can look forward to being able to see some top stars from the world of professional wrestling on their very own doorstep in November, as the city's Patti Pavilion gets set to host two big events featuring current stars from the industry. Whilst all eyes are on Cardiff's Principality Stadium on Saturday, September 3 as WWE brings Clash At The Castle - its first major stadium event to be held in the United Kingdom in more than 30 years, since SummerSlam ’92 at London’s Wembley Stadium, it isn't the only chance you'll have to see WWE stars in Wales this year.
That's because in Swansea, some of the top stars from WWE's NXT UK brand will be performing in a special show called Oblivion At The Pavilion . As the name suggests, it will be held at the Patti Pavilion and hosted by IBA events, in association with Defend Indy Wrestling on Sunday, November 27 . The show will feature five signed WWE UK stars including Mark Andrews, who also once competed under the name Mandrews for American company TNA and helped organise the event. Fans can also look forward to seeing Wild Boar, from Blaina, a homecoming for Swansea-born wrestler Eddie Dennis, Amir Jordan and T-Bone.
The rest of the show will be made up of some of the best UK talents that the independent scene can offer, including Nico Angela. From Neath, he performs around the UK circuit and is considered one to watch, thanks to his energetic, risk taking and high-flying style. In 2017, WWE announced a UK Championship tournament and it was held to crown a first ever UK champion. WWE has since launched a fully branded UK show called NXT UK, which can be viewed worldwide on the WWE Network, an on demand streaming platform.
Dan Galloway and Will Sheldon, from IBA Events said: “We both have a huge passion for wrestling and have always loved it since a young age. Hosting an event like this has always been on our bucket list and we are thrilled that we’ve been able to make it happen. Especially with such a high calibre of talent for the first event. A lot of thanks goes to Mark Andrews, it wouldn’t have been possible without him. We want IBA to be known for its diverse event schedule, we are more than just a music promoter, we aim to bring something for everyone to Swansea."
And if that wasn't enough, also in November, wrestling fans can look forward to seeing wrestling legend Chris Jericho perform at the Patti Pavilion with his band Fozzy on Thursday, November 10 . The six-time former WWE champion, who now works for another American wrestling company, All Elite Wrestling, is one of the most recognised and iconic wrestlers from the late nineties into the 2000s and regularly competed against Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and The Undertaker to name a few.
Fozzy was originally due to perform at Sin City in Swansea on December 10 last year, but the show had to be cancelled. General sale tickets are still available priced at £23, and there's also VIP meet and greets available for fans to meet Chris, have their photos taken and items signed. It also includes a private sound check experience, strictly limited to 25 people. Support for the show will come from Las Vegas rockers Escape The Fate and Llanelli band Scarlet Rebels, who will be touring with Fozzy throughout their UK tour. You can get your tickets by clicking here.
Tickets for Oblivion At The Pavilion go on sale on Friday, July 29 at 10am. VIP options are available which include front row and a poster which can be signed at the included exclusive meet and greet with the wrestlers. They cost £16 for general admission, £25 for front row, £17.50 for second row and £35 for VIP. Click here to purchase your tickets.
