  • Former WWE star Ted DiBiase Jr. is on trial in Mississippi, accused of orchestrating a scheme to steal millions from welfare programs intended for the state's most vulnerable residents.
  • Prosecutors allege DiBiase Jr. used misappropriated federal funds, obtained through sham contracts, to purchase a $1.4 million home, a boat, a tractor, and a truck, among other luxury items.
  • The alleged scheme involved DiBiase Jr.'s companies receiving federal welfare funds from the Emergency Food Assistance Program and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families programs, facilitated by former Mississippi Department of Human Services director John Davis.
  • Described as the largest public corruption case in Mississippi history, the scandal involves over $77 million in stolen funds and has implicated other figures, including DiBiase Jr.'s father, Ted DiBiase Sr., and NFL legend Brett Favre.
  • DiBiase Jr. faces charges including money laundering, theft, wire fraud, and conspiracy, and could face up to 185 years in prison if found guilty; jury deliberations are currently underway.
