WWE Faces Tough Decisions In Retaining Top Superstars

Actor and former WWE Superstar Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson participates in a news conference on Wednesday, Mar. 30, 2011 in New York. As WWE gears up for its biggest annual premium live event in

WWE has been navigating contract negotiations with its top superstars, with some high-profile names like Becky Lynch and Bobby Lashley seeing their WWE runs come to an end due to failed negotiations. While WWE has managed to retain main eventers like Randy Orton and Seth Rollins, the rise of AEW as a competitor has added complexity to the situation.

One key superstar that WWE should prioritize re-signing is Sheamus, who has been a consistent performer for over a decade. With a strong track record and versatility, Sheamus is a valuable asset that WWE should aim to keep, especially considering AEW's history with booking big men.

Despite recently signing a deal to return in 2023, WWE is reportedly keen on securing CM Punk's long-term commitment. Punk's ability to generate buzz and enhance storytelling makes him a valuable asset that WWE should lock in for the future.

Kevin Owens, a former Universal Champion, is another star whose contract status is uncertain. While Owens has excelled in WWE, his close ties to AEW executives raise questions about his future. Given his consistent performances and versatility, WWE should make efforts to retain Owens.

AJ Styles, known for his in-ring prowess, has hinted at a potential retirement but remains a top performer. WWE should consider offering Styles a part-time role to accommodate his desire to spend more time with his family while still contributing to the company.

Lastly, the contracts of both Owens and Sami Zayn are set to expire soon, presenting WWE with the task of re-signing two key talents. Zayn, despite not fitting the traditional mold of a WWE star, has proven his value through his performances and involvement in major storylines. WWE should prioritize retaining both Zayn and Owens to maintain their roster strength.
