Early leaks around WWE 2K26 are starting to answer two of the biggest questions fans ask every year: when it’s coming out, and what it’ll run on. While 2K hasn’t made anything official yet, the rumors and leaks suggest the same release date as previous games. However, it might favor only current-gen platforms and skip out on PS4 and Xbox One.
If those details hold up, WWE 2K26 could mark a quiet but important turning point for the series, especially for players still on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
What The Leak Suggests

The information was found by billbil_kun via Dealabs, where he confirms the release dates and whether the game will be on old-gen consoles or not.
According to billbil_kun, WWE 2K26 is targeting a mid-March 2026 launch, with March 13 emerging as the most commonly mentioned release date. That would line up neatly with previous entries, suggesting 2K isn’t looking to shake up its release schedule this year.
Platform-wise, the leaked information points to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as the main targets. Nintendo’s next-generation Switch hardware is also mentioned as a day-one release, which would be a change from past WWE 2K games that arrived on Nintendo platforms later or in scaled-back form. But, there hasn’t been any information in the leaks or the files about whether WWE 2K26 will release on PS4 and Xbox One. So, there is a chance that WWE 2K26 might skip out on old-gen, or it could end up releasing much later on them.
From a development perspective, that move would make sense. In order to optimize the game for old-gen, developers have to cut a lot of corners. This limits them from improving the game further and adding new features. Focusing solely on current hardware could give the developers more room to improve performance and tighten up the overall experience.
That said, it wouldn’t be an easy decision. WWE 2K still has a large audience on last-gen consoles, and cutting off support would leave some players behind. It’s the kind of trade-off many annual sports games are starting to face as the current console generation moves further along.
For now, everything remains unofficial. 2K is expected to tell us more about WWE 2K26 on January 30, which should lock in the release date and confirm exactly which platforms are supported. Until then, these leaks offer a rough idea of where the series may be headed.
