Wright on his way out of Hibs as Johnson rebuild continues

Wright on his way out of Hibs as Johnson rebuild begins

DREY WRIGHT is on his way out of Hibernian.

The former St Johnstone attacker is not wanted as part of Lee Johnson’s new regime at Easter Road and is on the lookout for a new club.

The 27-year-old’s deal runs out at the end of next month and is expected to be just one of a handful of players to leave the capital outfit this summer as Johnson puts his stamp on the squad he inherited from Shaun Maloney and Jack Ross.

Hibs will not be taking up their option of on-loan Fulham youngster Sylvester Jasper, whilst loans for James Scott and Rocky Bushiri are up and contracts also expire for Sean Mackie, Alex Gogic and Scott Allan.

Wright has suffered a difficult two years at Hibs since joining from Saints in 2020.

Signed by Jack Ross, Wright made 23 starts in 50 appearances over his two years at the club but found himself the target of disgruntled supporters as the team struggled this season, leading Shaun Maloney to publicly back the winger.

A return to former club St Johnstone could be one possible option for the Englishman as he bids to kick-start his career away from Hibs.
