NEW DELHI: True to their fears, Wrestling Federation of India’s (WFI) sidelined president, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, hasn’t been indicted by the oversight committee formed by the union sports ministry to probe charges of sexual harassment against him, sources in the establishment have confirmed to TOI.
The protesting wrestlers, led by Olympians Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik, having learnt about it, made a passionate appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday to listen to their “Mann Ki Baat” and sought appointment from him to discuss the harassment charges against Singh.
“PM Modi talks about ‘Beti Bachao’ and ‘Beti Padhao’, and listens to everyone’s Mann Ki Baat. Can’t he listen to our Mann Ki Baat? He gives us a lot of respect and calls us his daughters. Today, we appeal to him that he listens to his daughters,” Rio Olympics bronze medallist Sakshi told mediapersons during a press conference at the Jantar Mantar protest site.
