Aaron Rodgers is going to have a loaded receiver room in his debut season with the New York Jets. While he isn’t high on the depth chart right now, The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov listed wideout Jason Brownlee as the player to watch for the Jets in training camp.
Garrett Wilson and Corey Davis are the two receivers remaining on the roster from last season. Since the start of the offseason, the Jets have notably added Allen Lazard, Mecole Hardman, and Randall Cobb at the wide receiver position.
Following the 2023 NFL draft, the Jets also signed Brownlee, who is an undrafted rookie out of Southern Miss. In his three seasons at Southern Miss, Brownlee accumulated 135 receptions, 2,144 receiving yards, and 21 receiving touchdowns.
Despite attending a smaller college, Brownlee has quickly caught the eye of the coaching staff of the Jets this offseason. Brownlee recently made a spectacular one-handed grab in practice as the Jets prepare to face the Cleveland Browns in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday.
Cracking the starting offense is unlikely for Brownlee as the Jets have a talented receiver room for Rodgers to work with. But with a strong showing in training camp and the preseason, Brownlee could certainly earn a spot on the 53-man roster.
