NEW DELHI: As the International Cricket Council (ICC) works overtime to get the sport grow globally and promote women's cricket, the valuation of Women's Premier League (WPL) in India has come as a boost for ICC.
"India continues to lead the way with regards to women's cricket. The values brought in for the WPL teams reiterates the potential of women's cricket. It also suggests the availability of potential investors in women's cricket, particularly in South Asia. There's a lot of development required in value of women's cricket in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. It's much better than what it was 18 months ago. What happened in India is a catalyst to drive women's cricket. The landscape is going to look different in the coming months," ICC General Manager Cricket, Wasim Khan said during a media interaction on Wednesday.
