NEW DELHI: Allrounder Deepti Sharma has been the standout player of this year's Women's Premier League (WPL). With the ball, she has scalped 10 wickets in the tournament including a hat-trick against Delhi Capitals. Her bat has been no less productive, having scored 295 runs in 8 innings at a staggering average of 98.33.
On Monday, against the Gujarat Giants, she put in yet another allround performance, returning with figures of 2/22 in her quota of four overs and then belting a breathtaking unbeaten 88 (off 60b; 9x4, 4x6). But she still couldn't prevent an 8-run loss for UP Warriorz at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The loss all but ended Warriorz's hopes of qualifying for the knockouts.
