Newcastle United fans are in sheer disbelief as Eddie Howe's side hold a FIVE-goal lead over Tottenham at half-time. In what was billed as a close encounter between two top-four rivals, the Magpies have annihilated the visitors and almost certainly had the points wrapped up by the 21st minute.
Howe made one change to his starting eleven following the defeat at Villa Park last time out, with Sean Longstaff returning in place of January signing Anthony Gordon. It is safe to say the head coach has been rewarded for keeping faith with those who struggled in the Midlands last weekend.
Jacob Murphy pounced on a loose ball to open the scoring after just two minutes, with Joelinton rounding Hugo Lloris to double the advantage just four minutes later. Murphy then beat Lloris from range to remarkably make it 3-0 after only nine minutes, but the goals did not stop there.

Alexander Isak grabbed a quickfire brace in the space of three minutes, firstly latching on to a pass from Joe Willock to find the far corner, before repeating the trick inside the box. It was a blistering start which means Newcastle have become the second quickest side to race into a five-goal lead in Premier League history, with only Manchester City bettering this return against Wigan Athletic.
Here is how Newcastle United fans reacted to a simply astonishing first-half at St James' Park.
@sean180ward: "This is incredible. Wow"
@lacy1_jimmy: "Oh my. I did not expect this today. Its going to be a good day."
@agbnufc_: "Stick this one on the Amazon documentary lads."

@solardazemusic: "Disappointing half. Should have been 8. Back to drawing board."
@Callum_rose14: "Now THAT is a response to the Villa defeat."
@FraserSemple1: "Fantastic performance would be great to see a few more goals maybe match or better 8-0 record vs Sheff Wed but outstanding performance."
