It is customary for Liverpool players to touch the sign as a mark of respect and superstition before heading out to play, but not for United players to follow suit.
Liverpool trio Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Trent Alexander-Arnold all touched the famous sign as they walked under it, but found themselves in the odd position of being joined by an opponent from their fiercest rivals.
