A suspected car thief has ended a wild morning by allegedly crashing a stolen vehicle into the owner's pool.
The 22-year-old man is in hospital accused of a string of crimes including multiple car thefts and ramming a taxi after demanding fuel from the driver.
The man is accused of starting his spree early on Wednesday morning.
Police responded to a report about 1am that a man had entered a Gold Coast residence and stole keys to a BMW after being disturbed by the occupant.
The man fled in the BMW and forced a taxi to pull over before threatening the driver and demanding fuel, police said.
The stolen BMW then allegedly rammed the taxi, causing it to roll onto its side.
The taxi's driver and passenger were assessed by paramedics but were uninjured.
The suspected thief continued driving along Beaudesert-Nerang Road before crashing into a fence and a parked horse float.
He is accused of fleeing on foot to a neighbouring property and attempting to steal a black Lexus IS250.
The man allegedly drove the Lexus into the owner's pool while trying to escape.
He was arrested by police and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for observation.
