The world's skinniest skyscraper has been built and it's ready for people to move into.
A vast structure, it is called Steinway Tower and developers claim it is "the most slender skyscraper in the world" at only 57 feet wide.
The tower at 111 West 57th Street, is 1,428 feet, is touted as one in the Western hemisphere's tallest properties.
And only two others in New York City are taller: One World Trade Center at 1,776 feet and Central Park Tower at 1,550 feet.
The development boasts some 60 apartments over 84 stories and is next to the Steinway Hall building which is a historic landmark itself.
SHoP Architects designed the structure and it was constructed by JDS Development, Property Markets Group and Spruce Capital Partners which began the towering task in 2013.
Gregg Pasquarelli, principal architect described the tower as "a project of extraordinary proportions and epic grandeur" according to CNN.
Such super-thin skyscrapers are called pencil towers and were a feature on Hong Kong's skyline in the 1970s.
But major cities, including New York have also embraced the dramatic structures.
The tower is a huge statement on the New York City skyline and tapers from the tip of the building.
Astonishingly it also has triplex penthouse at the top which overlooks Central Park
The project was designed to create a new and bold interpretation of the New York skyline in addition to celebrating its history.
"Any preconceived notions that our team had about skyscrapers of New York City developments were replaced with an opportunity to do something that had never been done before," Pasquarelli said.
It is an addition to Steinway Hall the former home of the piano maker Steinway and Sons which also has a concert hall..
Inspiration for the building's design was said to have been taken from "the golden age of the Manhattan skyscraper" and the city's Art Deco history.
Its first five floors are home to high-end retailers and has an 82-foot swimming pool, private dining room and fitness centre.
Its front uses terracotta blocks and looks like it is changing colour at different times of the day and from different angles.
Steinway Tower will sit near adjacent Steinway Hall which was once considered a cultural hub in Manhattan.
The hall was built in 1925 and once used regularly as a performance hub, but before that the piano maker Steinway used the building which has now been earmarked for flats.
The venue has since been converted into luxury residences which now connect to the super-tall, slender tower.
Its construction began in 2013 and it was completed in 2021 creating a new building for the New York skyline.
Steinway Tower is open for new residents, but the prices do not match its skinny appearance and are much greater at £50.7 million ($66 million).
