World's biggest Sean Paul superfan names dog after rapper and dreams of meeting him

The world's biggest Sean Paul fan has named her new rescue dog after the Jamaican rap star, in a heartfelt bid to meet him in person.

Suzanne Downs, 44, became a die-hard superfan over 20 years ago, after discovering his "hilarious" lyrics and "good-looking" appearance.

The mum-of-four plays the rapper's music multiple times a day and has a collection of his memorabilia, including cups, keyrings, T-shirts, a beach towel and matching suitcase cover.

Suzanne took it one step further this year, when she decided to name her new German shepherd "Shauna Paul" after her musical hero.

The NHS nurse assistant says she would go as far as getting a tattoo of his autograph on her body - if she's lucky enough to get one signed.

Suzanne, from Morpeth, Northumberland, said: "I'd absolutely love to have my photograph taken with Sean Paul. It would be my dream come true.

"If I did, I probably wouldn't say anything. I'd probably just stutter. He makes me feel like a giddy teenager. I'm 44 years old. I'm a mam, but I can't help it."

Suzanne's pal has agreed to help her out and will be emailing his manager to arrange a personal meeting for her.

"Most people have their day, and then you don't hear about them anymore. But he's still going strong," Suzanne said.

The 44-year-old's favourite tracks are 'Like Glue' and 'Get Busy', from Paul's seminal album Dutty Rock, and she plays them on repeat - much to the annoyance of her peers.

She said: "I play his songs anywhere I can listen to them. If I go for a bath, I'll put them on outside the bathroom, and if I'm doing housework, I'll listen to them there.

"It doesn't matter what I'm doing, I'll play Sean Paul. My neighbours and my kids must really be sick of it."

Suzanne didn't plan to name her dog after the 49-year-old megastar, but she had a sudden flash of inspiration when she rehomed the rescue pooch.

The mum-of-four can't wait to see him perform live in August (Newcastle Chronicle)

"I was looking for a dog - I wanted to rehome a dog rather than get a puppy - and when I saw her, I thought: 'She's absolutely lovely'.

"I don't know where it came from, but I thought, 'I'll call her Shauna Paul.' My sister said, 'That's possibly the best idea you've ever had."

The rescue dog now recognises the singer when Suzanne plays videos of him on her phone.

It's not long before Suzanne will see him live as she's got tickets to watch his performance in Northern city's O2 City Hall in August.

It'll only be the second time she's watched him perform, since Newcastle 2019, and she's determined to be front row.

"It was when I saw him three years ago that I realised how much I actually liked him," Suzanne said.

"He's actually quite witty. He's quite funny as well and I like that about him.

"So I'm going to go to the venue really early to make sure I'm right at the front."

The devoted mum has collected Sean Paul memorabilia over the years, and has even created her own fan art from a picture she'd taken at a previous gig.

She added: "I got his photograph printed onto a bag after I'd seen him. It was one of my photographs - and I've got cups, keyrings, tee-shirts, stuff like that."
