Two of the world’s best pet photographers have described Perthshire’s stunning scenery as a magical backdrop for shoots.
The USA’s Kaylee Greer, of Dog Breath Photography, and New Zealand’s Craig Turner-Bullock, of Furtography, were capturing images in Glen Lednock, Strathearn recently with ‘top model’ Heather from Comrie.
Heather, a Scottish Deerhound, was being photographed as part of a mammoth undertaking by Craig, who is travelling the globe seeking the perfect pooches for his latest project – ‘Dogs of the World’.
Fujifilm ambassador Craig has already published three best-selling books, including ‘Quake Dogs’ and ‘Quake Cats’, which shared stories of heroism, rescue and pets being reunited with their owners following the devastating earthquakes in Christchurch in 2013.
The books raised more than $30,000 for pet charities in New Zealand.
And award-winning Kaylee is one of the most sought after ‘dogtographers’ in the industry and a creative leader in her field.
The pair were in Scotland giving photography masterclasses.
Kaylee met Heather during a shoot with students in Glencoe.
And when Craig - who is aiming to take 50 photographs of dogs in their native locations - heard about the handsome hound he knew she would be just right for his latest project.
He said: “This is what this project is all about for me – finding amazing dogs in the amazing places that they originate from. To come to Glen Lednock and have this fantastic view and everything you could want from Scotland in one location is awesome.
“‘Dogs of the World’ is a long-term project started in 2018 and placed on hold when the Covid-19 pandemic began. Now the world is opening to travellers again, it’s back on.
“The aim is to represent dogs from six of the seven continents and include common and rare breeds. The result is going to be an artistic coffee table book set to be published in late 2025.
“The dogs I include in the book are photographed in their countries of origin and places where the breed has become closely related.
“I have already photographed Boston Terriers in Boston, an American Pitbull in New York, a Chihuahua in Mexico, Smithfield Collies in Tasmania, a French Bulldog in Paris, and a Corgi in London.”
Kaylee, who also took the opportunity to snap Heather’s companion Tilly in her own inimitable style, added: “I would shoot here for the rest of my life if I could. It is epic, magic, surreal – like it’s ripped straight out of the pages of a fairytale.”
