World's best hotels for families revealed as all-inclusive Spain hotel tops the list

An all-inclusive hotel in Spain with a huge pool has been voted the best family-friendly hotel in the world.

When picking the perfect place to stay as a family heading on holiday, it can be difficult to balance the hopes and requirements of everyone in the group.

Helpfully Tripadvisor is on hand to rank the best hotels in the world each year, with the Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best award going to the top 1% of all listings.

Of those, only a proportion hit the review website's family friendly standard, meaning they're packed full of fun stuff for children to get stuck into, they're safe and there are lot of perks for parents to enjoy.

Just because a hotel is family friendly doesn't mean they are exclusively for families or chock-a-block full of children charging about, so don't be put off if it's just adults in your group.

We take a look at the three best family-friendly hotels in the world - and you can check out the full list below.

1. Ikos Andalusia - Estepona, Spain

At the top of the list this year is the all-inclusive Ikos Andalusia, on Spain’s sun-drenched Costa Del Sol. According to the thousands of people who enjoyed a stay there, it is the ideal location to enjoy Marbella’s luxuriously vibrant lifestyle.

That doesn't mean it's not great for kids as well, with a big pool, bike hire facilities and a football club perfect for little ones.

Ikos has more than 1,000 five star reviews including from one recent happy customer who gushed: "We loved our stay at Ikos Andalusia!

"We stayed for half-term week at the end of May when the hotel was apparently pretty much full but it never felt too busy.

"We had stayed at Ikos Dassia twice before so had high expectations but we felt the service, the food and our room were all actually better at Ikos Andalusia. It was the best room and best service we have had anywhere!"

2. Rixos Premium Belek - Belek, Turkey

This hotel is perfect for kids with an adventurous streak, stretching as it does over 405,000 m² of Calabrian pine and pistachio tree forests. It has with an exclusive kilometre-long sandy beach extending one hundred meters inland.

"Everything has been considered for an ultimately pleasant, first-class holiday complete with trekking along lush green trails, rich foods and beverages, and a very wide range of sports and fun recreational activities," the hotel promises.

It has spas and wellness centres, pools, gyms, a la carte restaurants, kids clubs, on-site shopping centres among plenty of other things to keep you busy.

3. Voyage Sorgun - Side, Turkey

The Voyage Sorgun isn't your classic pool, sun and buffet hotel, but a place where you can immerse yourself in Turkish culture and enjoy some of the delicious food the country has to offer.

For the adults there is a special concept disco on the beach as well as pool games and parties, where the hotel promises "world-wide known artists and bands" perform throughout the summer.

A mini club, an indoor playground and an aquapark are on hand to keep kids entertained, as is a huge pine forest perfect for exploring.

"It wasn’t too crowded or overwhelmingly big, facilities were easy to access," one person wrote.

"The resident cats are well fed and looked after, they are so cute to have around. The patisserie is another big hit, we just loved everything over there."
