'World of Warcraft' Update: Blizzard Confirms Housing is Finally Coming in Next Expansion

Blizzard confirmed that player housing is coming to World of Warcraft. This comes after players have been asking for it for two decades.

While the confirmation is good news, the bad news is that players will have to wait until the game's next expansion to get player housing. The studio said that this was because the feature is a relatively "large undertaking."

World of Warcraft Player Housing

The announcement comes as Blizzard revealed several new and upcoming updates for both World of Warcraft and World of Warcraft Classic. One of these is a patch update for The War Within expansion that features goblin-themed content.

World of Warcraft Classic is instead getting the Mists of Pandaria expansion and there is a gameplay feature that will be coming to the Midnight expansion. The latter is what players have been asking Blizzard to add for two decades now; player housing.

The goblin-themed patch update is titled "Undermine(d)" and is set to arrive in the first quarter of next year.

This will let players who are on their quest to stop the evil Xal'atath be taken to join a madcap adventure in Undermine, which is the capital city of the goblin race, according to Windows Central.

The new zone will drag players into the middle of a turf war between several Goblin Cartels that are trying to take control of the city. You will also have to contend with the return of the infamous former leader of the Goblins, Gallywix.

The Undermined(d) patch will also mark the start of Season 2 and add two new Delve dungeons alongside thematic updates to currently existing Delves. There is also a new ground-mount vehicle being introduced that is outfitted with speed boosters.

The Midnight Expansion

Blizzard has been playing around with the idea of a player housing feature way back from the days of the Warlords of Draenor. The "Garrison" feature was the answer that the studio came up with but it failed to meet player expectations, IGN said.

This was primarily because it fell short of customizability and others that players were looking for. This was something that other MMORPGs were able to implement properly, including Final Fantasy XIV.

Midnight is Blizzard's second planned expansion of the trio of major updates for World of Warcraft that were announced in November last year.

Because The War Within is still relatively new, players can expect to wait around one to two years before getting player housing, according to PCGamer.
