Blizzard just dropped a $90 dino mount in World of Warcraft to celebrate the popular MMORPG's anniversary.

The developer is adding the Trader's Gilded Brutosaur mount that has mail and auction house functionality included. Despite World of Warcraft players criticizing the release, a lot of people are still spending money to buy the newly released mount.

World of Warcraft's New Mount

The studio also reminded its players that they could invest in their new gilded age using WoW Tokens. These are a type of currency that can be purchased from the Auction House using gold and can be redeemed for Battle.net Balance.

Following that reminder, players have already started to track the impact of the release of the new mount on WoW Tokens, according to MassivelyOP.

The Trader's Gilded Brutosaur mount comes with a 20th Anniversary-themed harness that shows off various gems that represent World of Warcraft's expansions. The features that it has let players save a lot of time, which is something that mounts typically do not provide.

The other controversial thing about the release of the mount is that Blizzard is making it a limited-time offer. The studio plans to remove the new mount from sale on Jan. 6, 2025, giving players only a few months to get it if they want to.

But the mount's price tag is what has gotten people talking about it as it costs the same as the Deluxe Edition of World of Warcraft's latest The War Within expansion. This equates to about half a year's worth of subscription for the popular MMORPG, IGN said.

Sending the Economy Into Turmoil

Despite the criticisms, some players insist that the Trader's Gilded Brutosaur mount is actually very cheap for its $90 price tag.

They argue that this is because the mount's value in WoW Tokens is much cheaper than the five million in-game gold that people paid for the original copy in 2018.

Some people have already started to use the WoW Token method to get the Trader's Gilded Brutosaur mount by using their gold in the Auction House.

The issue with this is that WoW Tokens are currently somewhat rare in the game due to the massive demand for the new mount.

The sudden popularity of the Trader's Gilded Brutosaur mount has sent the economy of World of Warcraft into a bit of a whirlpool. Players are now having a difficult time buying any WoW Tokens so they can redeem them for Battle.net Balance, according to Games Radar.
