World Fireworks Championship being held in Blackpool this weekend

You don’t have to wait until Bonfire Night on November 5 to see a spectacular fireworks display. The World Fireworks Championships are back in Blackpool with events taking place throughout October.

With fireworks being launched from the beach in front of The Blackpool Tower, and set against the stunning Blackpool Illuminations, you can expect a jaw-dropping show which will impress the whole family. All of the displays are set to music for added entertainment.

Three nations are participating in the championships this year which are Barbados, Finland and Wales. Each one will be creating dazzling pyrotechnic displays to represent their country. On Saturday, October 15, Celtic Fireworks from Wales will be showing off with their spectacular display.

Caribe Fire FX from Barbados already impressed crowds earlier in the month on October 1, while Fireworks Factory from Finland will reveal their entry on Thursday, October 27. The championships, sponsored by Coral Island, will culminate with a celebratory display with Titanium Fireworks on Friday, October 28.

The event will build-up from 7.30pm on Saturday with an approximate firing time of 8.30pm for each display. If you want to get the best views, it’s recommended that you get there early. You’ll be able to see the displays from anywhere along the seafront though, so everyone can enjoy them.

If you’re travelling by car you’re urged to park up early as car parks will fill up quickly a couple of hours before the event. Heavy traffic is expected ahead of the event, so give yourself plenty of time. For a full list of council-owned car parks, click here.

Event organisers have managed to arrange access to North Car Park, Balmoral Road, FY4 1HR behind Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
