The world-famous Mersey Ferries are looking for a new captain.

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (CA) is advertising for a new Captain to lead the iconic ferries.

"This will be achieved through delivering a safe and reliable service, ensuring the vessel and crew operates efficiently and effectively at all times.

"As Captain onboard the Mersey Ferries you will be comfortable in this high-profile position, promoting the wider organisation to our diverse customer base, which includes the general public, dignitaries and celebrities alike.

"A clear communicator, and confident speaker, you will be a role model and an inspirational ambassador, who constantly strives to lead by example.

"Possessing a resourceful mindset and positive attitude your exemplary behaviour will enable you to consistently deliver the demanding standards that allow Mersey Ferries to remain an iconic visitor attraction whilst expanding its business portfolio, as well as promoting such amongst your crew."

Hopeful applicants are expected to hold or be working towards completion of, within a six-month period, a current Boatmaster’s Licence (Tier 1, Level 2) and relevant Pilot Exemption Certificate for the Port of Liverpool.

The CA says it is committed to having a workforce that is representative of the communities it serves and will particularly welcome applicants from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, which it says are currently under-represented at the organisation.
