World Cup today: France take on Spain as European giants clash in first semi-final

France and Spain meet in a highly anticipated World Cup semi-final today, marking a rematch of their thrilling Euro 2024 semi-final where Spain were the victors.

Kylian Mbappe, France's captain and the tournament's leading scorer with eight goals, will spearhead his team's potent attack, while Spain, having conceded only one goal so far, are aiming for consecutive major tournament triumphs.

The crucial semi-final match is set for an 8pm BST kick-off (3pm ET) at the Dallas Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Key players to watch include France's Mbappe, who scored in their quarter-final win against Morocco, and Spain's Lamine Yamal, who made history as the youngest goalscorer in European Championship history during their last encounter.

Both national teams appear to have largely fit squads, with Mbappe confirming he has no injury concerns for France, and Spain's Nico Williams having returned to play in their quarter-final victory over Belgium.
