Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand has emerged as one of the biggest stars of ICC World Cup 2023. As the tournament goes into the business end with the Kiwis taking on hot favourites India in the semi-finals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, his father Ravi Krishnamurthy gives some insights into the evolution of Rachin as a player.
Krishnamurthy, 51, is an IT professional, a one-time Bengaluru resident who migrated to New Zealand in the mid- 1990s. His passion for cricket continued and he's a certified coach. He set up the Hutt Hawks in 2008 at Wellington. This team has been to many places over the years like Bengaluru, Mysuru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Anantapur, among others. There have been over 25 tours and of the international cricketers who toured with it include Tom Blundell, Luke Woodcock, Jimmy Neesham, Jeet Raval and, Rachin Ravindra, of course. In the coaching department, former New Zealand international cricketers Bruce Edgar and Chris Nevin have also helped the Hawks.
