World Cup: Pat Cummins banks on 'India knowledge'

CHENNAI: Over the years, the MA Chidambaram Stadium has been Australia's happy hunting ground. It is in fact their most successful ODI venue in India, with five victories from six matches. Australia skipper Pat Cummins is looking to bank on the team's experience of touring India to begin the quest for a sixth ODI World Cup trophy.

Cummins said he has played more white-ball cricket in India than in his own country over the last 10 years. "We have played a lot of One-Day and T20 games here and Chepauk is a ground we visit quite often. We like playing here. And a few guys have played for CSK and a fair bit of IPL. We won our last match here in March. Hopefully, we keep that going," the captain said.

"The IPL has been very helpful. The home crowd is going to be noisy and very one-sided, which is nothing new. I think the positive thing is we've played some good ODI cricket against India at their home ground over the last few years. So we can draw on that.

"You get some (wickets) that spin or bounce and 250 might be a good score. And then there are other wickets where you feel like you need more than 350 because it's flat. Over the course of 50 overs, it does feel like the wicket and the ball changes a bit. It goes through different phases. But in Australia it can be pretty flat in the whole 50 overs," he added.

Cummins also believes he is blessed to have star allrounders at his disposal.
