NEW DELHI: New Zealand's pace bowler, Trent Boult, is eagerly anticipating the high-stakes clash against the World Cup hosts, India, on Sunday. This encounter will feature the last remaining unbeaten teams in the tournament, and it's set to take place in Dharamshala.
Both teams have achieved victory in their first four games, with New Zealand leading the rankings due to their superior net run rate. Boult is well aware of the formidable challenge posed by India, led by Rohit Sharma, to New Zealand's flawless record.
"They're a powerful team, they cover all bases," Boult commented. "They've been playing some good cricket but it's been a team that we've enjoyed playing."
From New Zealand's perspective, their approach remains consistent. It's about maintaining a positive mindset and executing their strategies effectively.
"These guys are very familiar with the conditions but they feel pressure just as much as any other batsman or any other bowler," Boult acknowledged.
He stressed the importance of staying grounded and playing each moment as it unfolds, a key message for the team.
"Both undefeated, I'm sure it will be a cracker."
New Zealand have secured wins against England, the Netherlands, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. However, facing India on their home turf presents a formidable challenge for Boult and his fellow team members.
India come into the clash with victories against Australia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. The match is sure to be fueled by the fervor of a passionate crowd at the HPCA Stadium.
"India in India, it doesn't get much bigger than that," Boult recognized the significance of this contest.
"Our games so far have been relatively quiet crowds, some people attending, but we understand the intensity's going to go up a little bit here and there might be a firework or two.
"But hopefully they're for us.
"(We're) looking forward to going out there, showcasing what we can do and just picking up where we've left off."
