After weeks of planning and preparation World Book Day finally arrived today and once again Manchester's pupils didn't disappoint.
Thousands of children have been dressing up as their favourite book characters for schools, nurseries and playgroups - and even the teachers have been joining in the fun.
From Gangsta Grannies and Harry Potters to Willy Wonka and Mary Poppins, Manchester's parents have excelled themselves for the event, which is this year celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Among our favourites so far are Safah Chowdhury, 10, from Manchester as the Mad Hatter, and brothers Sunay and Eshan Shanahan, from Swinton (main pic) who dressed as Willy Wonka and Darth Vader.

We know what hard work you parents put into making and buying the costumes so we don't want that to go unnoticed.
We want you to share your photos with us so that we can share them in our bumper online gallery.
Upload your photos using the form here and not only could they appear online, but they'll also be printed in our World Book Day photo special.
Tell us what character your child has dressed as and where you live and they will have a starring role in our supplement.
