'Working in units' - Pundit impressed by Leeds United under Jesse Marsch

Trevor Sinclair thinks that from what he’s seen of Leeds United under Jesse Marsch, they will pick up enough points to secure survival this season.

The Whites moved four points clear of the bottom three on Sunday as they defeated Norwich City 2-1 at Elland Road thanks to a 94th-minute winner from Joe Gelhardt.

Their victory over the Canaries was the first under the regime of Marsch, who was taking charge of his third game at the club following his appointment last month.

He kick-started his time at Leeds with a 1-0 defeat at Leicester City in a game where they will have felt hard done by to come away empty-handed.

Leeds were then comfortably dispatched 3-0 by Aston Villa on Thursday but showed their character to bounce back and secure three points against Norwich just a few days later.

In similar fashion to the Leicester game, Leeds created and missed a bundle of chances against Norwich and on another day, could’ve been out of sight at half-time.

Speaking on the Game Day Podcast, Sinclair was discussing the state of play of the relegation battle and has been impressed by what he’s seen of Leeds under Marsch, which could take them towards safety.

He said: “It’s alright talking about Newcastle and Brentford but I’m looking at Leeds. I watched Leeds at Leicester last week and Jesse Marsch has got them working in units.

“And if they start working in units they’re going to start putting some results together like we’ve seen today because they are a good team anyway, and a fit team.”
