Workers could be given new rights to demand a four-day week under new laws, according to reports.
The Telegraph reports that “compressed hours” could feature in a new law, which could shift the balance of power, so companies could be legally obliged to offer flexible working from day one except where it is “not reasonably feasible”.One Conservative MP has warned that Labour is “bringing the four-day week through the backdoor” with the measures, which may allow employees to work their contracted week’s hours in four days rather than in five.
