Worker left with life-threatening injuries after industrial incident in Cardiff

A worker from Cardiff has been left with life-threatening injuries in hospital following an industrial incident, South Wales Police has confirmed. Emergency services were called to the print manufacturer Gardners at the Avenue Industrial Estate in the Pontprennau area of Cardiff on Monday morning, September 5.

It was confirmed that a 59-year-old man had been taken to University Hospital Wales in Cardiff with life-threatening injuries. A joint investigation has been launched by South Wales Police and the Health and Safety Executive.

In a statement released on Monday, a HSE spokesperson said: ''HSE is aware of the incident and is assisting South Wales Police with their enquiries."

In response to the incident, Richard Courtney the managing director at Gardners, said: "All of us at Gardners are devastated by this tragic accident. Our colleague was taken to the University Hospital of Wales yesterday and our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this sad and difficult time. The incident is being treated as an industrial accident and we are fully co-operating with the HSE and police on an ongoing basis."
